Monash University is well known as a state of the art research and innovation facility and in furthering this mission, the needs of it's existing platform requires an overhaul to accommodate various audiences, industries and initiatives. This projects aims to address these goals and provide seamless scalability in the future.
Technology Research Platforms is an multi-phased project to deliver a consolidated web presence offering information and access to Monash Research, Processes and Facilities.
Signicant content growth and multiple ownerships over time has resulted in architecture and content that is disjointed. Accessibility of information and actions are located across various siloed department platforms and offline channels which impacted real-time opportunities and needs.
To address the above issues, the solution will include a top level site that acts as an entry point for both academics and industry to discover available platforms and infrastructure.
The long-term goal is to incrementally migrate individual platforms across into a single back-end system as well as provide a streamlined content and owner management system.
01 • Stakeholder workshop to define key stakeholders, audience, customer value proposition, challenges and goals
02 • Information architecture and participatory design workshop to review lines of inquiries, design inspirations, identify top level IA and map user journey against business requirements
03 • Subsite workshop to analyse aggregation and usability of content on multiple existing microsites
04 • Usability testing on Axure prototype with users and stakeholders. Testing and iterations on IA
05 • Evaluate against success metrics. Monitor and plan ongoing product strategy
06 • Plan and execute a multi-phased roadmap to move all individual platforms and content to new CMS and search engine
• Higher content engagement and conversion rates with easy to find information for research, grants, facilities, instruments and tours.
• Reduction in email inquiries and phone bookings as information on booking tours, instruments and facilities can be found online.
• Increased exposure through number of inquiries from both internal and external groups, including engagements and grants.
• Improved management and maintenance of content across departments, in particular the problem of duplicated and unsearchable information.
• Define and execute product strategy, both short and long term objectives. Act as the user advocate in cross functional design discussions
• Identify business opportunities to grow in the context of competitive factors, market demand and industry trends/developments
• Build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence decision making with stakeholders
• Guide and participate in project planning and execution such as user research, prototype delivery and usability testing
